Spiritual direction is a space to practice attentiveness to the Lord’s presence in your life through the gift of witness. This form of spiritual companionship can help you:
- notice and wonder at God’s world and work
- process different seasons and stories in your relationship with God
- seek discernment for a current or upcoming change
- explore new spiritual practices or ways of being with God
- explore questions and longings within your spiritual journey
The relationship is less directive than mentoring or discipleship, and less goal-driven than therapy or coaching, though all these pieces may play a part. The focus of the time is on you and your relationship with God with a posture of openness and noticing. My role is to be a prayerful and listening presence to you and to the Spirit in that space, asking questions to prompt further reflection or attentiveness.
The space is contemplative, with times of silence and listening prayer, but also conversational, open, and low-pressure. Each spiritual direction relationship will look slightly different because of our uniqueness as people, the way God speaks and works in our lives, and the particular season you may find yourself in.

Each session lasts about an hour, and ongoing spiritual direction would usually happen once a month. Traditionally, meetings are held in a private, quiet space such as an office or church, but I also love to utilize outside spaces or movement together and find that those can also open the door to attentiveness to the Spirit in new ways.
My desire is for the opportunity for spiritual direction to be available to anyone who feels drawn to it without concern for cost, so I charge no set session fee. I do, however, raise my full salary to practice this and other forms of ministry and should you feel able and led, I welcome an honorarium of any amount that will continue to help me offer this ministry to others. Traditionally, spiritual direction sessions cost between $40-$80.
